The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the global gold standard for sustainable forestry.
The FSC certification ensures that the paper used in our packaging comes from forests that are managed responsibly, balancing environmental care, social responsibility, and economic viability.
That means:
Forests are replanted and protected for future generations.
Biodiversity and wildlife habitats are safeguarded.
Local communities are paid fairly and empowered through forest management.
When you see the FSC logo, you can trust that what you’re holding supports forests and communities, rather than threatening them.
At Edge Tea & Coffee, we believe that a truly great cup doesn’t just taste good, it should do good too. We pride ourselves in sustainable action and change. That’s why we’ve made the switch to FSC® certified packaging across our range.
It’s a step that protects the freshness of our coffee, but more importantly, it’s a step towards sustainable coffee & practices which is protecting the planet we all share.
This isn’t just about packaging. It’s about transparency, accountability, and making sure that every choice we make as a business contributes to something bigger!
Packaging is one of the hardest challenges for sustainable businesses. Despite decades of effort, the reality is that only 9% of all plastic ever produced has been recycled. The rest has ended up in landfill, incinerated, or polluting our oceans and rivers.
The UK is already moving to ban many single-use plastics, but we felt we had to go further. FSC-certified materials give us a way to cut down on unnecessary plastics while using renewable, responsibly sourced alternatives.
To keep our coffee fresh, the packaging needs to guard against UV light, oxygen, and moisture. Our new FSC-certified bags balance these demands with sustainability, offering strong protection while relying on responsibly sourced paper at their core.
And we’re upfront about this: some protective layers in food-safe packaging can’t yet be recycled everywhere. But for us, honesty is better than greenwashing. By combining FSC-certified paper with long-term innovation, we’re making packaging that’s both effective today and part of a more sustainable tomorrow.
We’re not perfect, and we won’t pretend to be. But we are committed to doing things the right way. That means being transparent about the challenges, celebrating the wins, and continually pushing ourselves to reduce our impact.
Switching to FSC-certified packaging and supporting reforestation through Eden are just the beginning. We’ll keep looking for new ways to make sure that when you pick up a bag of Edge Coffee, you can feel confident that it’s been made with care for both people and the planet.
Every cup should leave more behind than an empty mug. With our new FSC-certified packaging, it leaves trees planted, forests restored, and communities supported. That’s a brew we can all feel good about.

FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council®, an international nonprofit that sets the global standard for responsible forest management. When you see an FSC label, it means the wood, paper, or packaging comes from forests that are managed in ways that protect biodiversity, respect local communities, and ensure long-term sustainability.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an independent certification system that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. FSC-certified products, like paper, wood, or packaging, help to ensure that forests are protected, replanted, and responsibly harvested for future generations.
If a product is FSC certified, it means it has been verified to come from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources. For example, FSC-certified packaging ensures that the paper used is renewable, traceable, and contributes to sustainable practices rather than deforestation. In simple terms, FSC certification is proof that your purchase supports forests, wildlife, and communities.
