Duration & attendees:

Course 2
The Coffee Connoisseur - BSA Accredited
Fully certified by the Beverage Standards Association (BSA), this course gives you everything you need to get through the door and behind the counter as a barista at your favourite coffee shops.
If you’re keen to learn the key skills of the coffee-creating craft, this is where you make it happen!
The course is aimed at commercial espresso machine users but keen home baristas are welcome too.

- Anyone who has just bought, or is thinking of buying, an espresso machine and wants to get top results from the get-go
- Anyone planning to work at, or open, a cafe
What to expect:
- Coffee 101: varieties, origins and flavours you need to know
- Why freshness is the single biggest taste factor
- Picking the perfect machine and grinder
- Getting down to the grind - choosing your grind level
- Dialling in espresso machines - calibrating, water quantities and temperature
- The NUMBER crucial steps to producing your espresso
- Making the most of milk - texturing and foaming techniques to learn
- The barista menu - classic drinks and how to make them
- Looking after your kit - machine maintenance

Course 3
Level 2 Barista course
This three day accredited City and Guilds Barista Training Course will see you learning everything there is to know about being a Barista and help you to master your craft.
Fun and informative, complete this course and you’ll be well on your journey to becoming a world-class crafter of coffee!

- Beginner Baristas keen to develop their tea & coffee knowledge
- Professionals requiring practical skills and certified results (group learning available)
- Anyone looking to gain practical skills on coffee machines

DAY 1
Morning
- Coffee 101 - history, origins and migration
- Hands-on learning with industry-level coffee machines
- The vital importance of making the perfect espresso
- Building your arsenal - the equipment to know inside-out
- Making your menu - a step-by-step run-through of each classic barista beverage.
LUNCH
Afternoon:
DAY 2
Morning:
- Starting the day right with delicious filter coffee
- From crop to pot - comprehensive tea tasting session
- Cultivating the perfect brewing conditions
- The wonderful world of chocolate - from cocoa bean to coffee cup
LUNCH
Afternoon:
- Smoothie best practices
- Get let loose with some delicious fruity ingredients and our commercial blender
- Exam and practical assessment prep with help from your Barista Training Manager
DAY 3
Morning:
- Conquering customer service: meeting the multi-tasking expectations of a pro barista
- How to care for your machines to keep them creating coffee like clockwork
BUFFET LUNCH
- Practical assessment - making the 7 drinks that you’ve learned on the course
- 20-question written exam based on the information you’ve learned
- Same-day results, with either pass, merit or distinction awarded
- Official City & Guilds Barista Training Certificate (dispatched by post)

What size are your courses?
We like to keep things friendly, with a personal touch. To ensure the best experience for all of our budding baristas, we allow a maximum of 4 people on our courses.

Where will my lessons be held?
Attend one of our courses and you’ll be learning from the best in our purpose-built EDGE Training Academy next to our roastery in Ford, Arundel. Equipped with industry-leading Barista equipment, you’ll have the freedom and space you need to relax and feel at home.
