High-Altitude Flavour from Northern Peru
This coffee comes from a small group of dedicated producers in the San Ignacio district, specifically from the comité El Porvenir in Huarango, tucked away in northwestern Peru near the Ecuadorian border. Grown at high altitudes ideal for developing complex profiles, the cherries are handpicked and carefully processed on individual farms.
Typical processing involves 24 to 36 hours of fermentation to unlock deep flavour, followed by drying the beans on lined patios under the sun. The farms grow classic and celebrated varieties such as red and yellow Caturra, Castillo, and Typica—with some old Bourbon plants adding even more depth to the mix.
A Regional Lot with Distinct Character
Because individual farm harvests are small, producers couldn't create separate microlots. Instead, they’ve blended coffees that share intense fruitiness, floral tones, and layered complexity to create a larger, export-ready regional lot.
The result is a beautifully balanced coffee that captures the spirit and terroir of San Ignacio—bright, nuanced, and deeply expressive in every cup.
