A Natural Beauty from the Heart of Ethiopia

This standout coffee comes from Mustefa Abakeno, a dedicated smallholder farmer based in the Jimma Zone of Western Ethiopia. Grown at a lofty 2,040 metres on his 18-hectare farm, this coffee reflects the character and quality of one of Ethiopia’s most iconic coffee regions—and it shines in every sip.

Mustefa cultivates a mix of resilient, high-quality varieties developed by the Jimma Research Centre. But what really makes this coffee special is how it’s processed and sourced. When Ethiopia loosened its export rules in 2018, Mustefa seized the opportunity to connect directly with roasters—and we’re so glad he did.

Crafted with Passion and Precision

Mustefa built his own wet mill, Beshasha, where he processes his own harvest as well as cherries from nearby smallholder farmers managing plots between 4 to 10 hectares. Every grower brings their best to Beshasha, and Mustefa ensures the quality stays top-notch by operating a dedicated warehouse in Agaro for drying and milling natural-processed coffees with care.

In 2022, Mustefa expanded his impact by establishing four new cherry collection sites—Echamo, Jarso, Badeyi, and Saadi—giving him access to even more exceptional fruit and deepening support for his coffee-growing community.

The result in the cup? A beautifully clean and vibrant natural Ethiopian, full of juicy fruit, bold character, and layers of complexity. It’s refined, flavour-packed, and a true reflection of Mustefa’s dedication to his craft.
