Fazenda Pinhal - A Coffee Born from Sustainability and Care
From the Heart of Brazil’s Coffee Belt
Nestled in the rolling hills near São Antônio de Amparo in Sul de Minas, Brazil’s most storied coffee region, lies Fazenda Pinhal—a 914-hectare farm that seamlessly blends tradition, innovation, and sustainability. Owned by the Gabarra Teixeira family since 1994, this breathtaking estate is more than just a coffee farm—it's a blueprint for the future of ethical, environmentally responsible agriculture.
A Farm That Gives More Than It Takes
Of the farm’s expansive acreage, only 296 hectares—just 33%—are dedicated to coffee cultivation. The rest is a carefully managed mosaic of preserved natural forests, eucalyptus groves, and open pastures that support a thriving ecosystem.
In 2019, Fazenda Pinhal was named Brazil’s Most Sustainable Coffee Farm—a title earned not just for responsible land use, but for their deep-rooted commitment to environmental stewardship. That same year, they completed a major solar panel installation that now powers the entire farm with 100% clean, renewable energy.
Their dedication to biodiversity extends to the skies as well: the farm is home to a bird sanctuary that rehabilitates injured wildlife and supports university-led research on native species.
More Than Just a Workplace—A Community
The Gabarra Teixeira family believes in farming with a conscience—not only toward the land, but toward the people who care for it. Their workers are treated like extended family.
In 2018, the farm introduced comprehensive dental care plans for employees. Today, they’re working with a local university to design safer, more sustainable work environments that reduce occupational injuries.
At Fazenda Pinhal, ethical labour and human dignity are as important as cup quality—and both are cultivated with equal precision.
Crafted with Precision: A Pulped Natural Perfection
The coffee itself is a testament to the care taken at every step of the process. Classified as a pulped natural, the beans are mechanically harvested and meticulously sorted to separate ripe, overripe, and unripe cherries.
- Selection: Only the ripest cherries are selected to ensure top quality.
- Pulping: Cherries are pulped to remove all mucilage, preparing the beans for drying.
- Drying: The beans are sun-dried on patios for 7 to 10 days, with constant turning for uniformity.
This process develops a clean, sweet profile that reflects the unique terroir of Sul de Minas.

Choosing Fazenda Pinhal means supporting a vision of coffee farming that honors nature, uplifts people, and delivers exceptional flavor. From sustainable energy to social responsibility, this is a coffee born from purpose—and you can taste it in every sip.
