Chris (Director of Edgcumbes) is spending some quality time with Big Bertha, before our huge new roaster ‘Wolfie’ arrives. Yes the director still roasts our coffee! Chris develops our roasting profiles (think of them like recipes) and sources incredible coffees from all over the world 🌏 . . Edgcumbes turns 40 this year and yet the passion Chris has for the coffee industry is still very much alive 🔥 Oh and if you’ve asked us a very technical question via email and we’ve said “Great question, let us look into this for you and we will respond ASAP” – We are normally straight on the phone to Chris looking for answers! 😆

⏰WAITING FOR WOLFIE . . We are counting down the minutes until our beautiful @giesencoffeeroasters W30A arrives. With the capacity to roast 120kg of coffee per hour, this beast makes our 15kg Big Bertha seem not so ‘big’ anymore. . . Wolfie looks pretty high tech, right? With an external cyclone to collect the chaff from the roasted beans and an advanced built-in Giesen Profiler, we will certainly be taking our roasting to a whole new level.

Fennel has an anise like aroma and is used widely around the world for both culinary and health purposes. It is particularly delicious with its partner in crime – liquorice. ☕FILTERED COFFEE . . We often get asked “How is single origin coffee best brewed?” Single origin coffee is great for all brewing methods, but we will always recommend giving filter a try. . . Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds and let the water navigate it’s way through the grounds, absorbing every taste note. It is a slower method of brewing, resulting in a smooth and flavoursome coffee. You may be surprised to know that the filter method does not result in an ‘intense’ cup. Instead, it produces a well-balanced, lighter coffee that is rich in flavour. . . Got any questions about the filter method? Drop them below!
